When the Lord began His admirable preaching and instituted that form of life practised later by the Apostles and all the faithful of the primitive Church, that which is called Apostolic life, to make these Apostles think only of the promulgation of the Gospel and the conversion of the people, what did He do? He asked of them a most perfect poverty, making them abandon everything and making them live a perfectly communal life.
